The
Centurion Show Band is a not-for-profit youth music
organisation based in York, England, in the form of an
American Style "Show Band" that puts high energy music to a
fast paced choreographed visual show in order to create
educational and entertaining concepts for both the
organisations membership and it's audiences.
Members of Centurion are aged between 8 and 25 and play all
types of marching and concert instrumentation, including
snare and bass drums, trumpets and sousaphones, as well as
vibraphones and marimbas. |

The band is a member of the
British Youth Band Association
and takes part in regular regional and national youth band
competitions, giving the bands membership goals to work
towards over the course of the banding season.
Aside from competition the band takes
an active part in the community, leading parades, performing
at galas and fetes, and even hosting educational activities
including clinics and workshops.
Centurion is one large family, and we actively encourage the
whole family to get involved. |

Centurion rehearse throughout the year mostly on Sunday
evenings between 6pm and 9pm. We do occasionally run extra
or extended rehearsals over the course of the year, and run
a residential training weekend for all members and support
staff over the May bank holiday weekend.
During the winter months the band rehearse at Huntington
Scout HQ, before moving to our outdoor rehearsal site at
York Racecourse around May time through until the middle of
October. |
